Very exciting match between Swiss Star, Roger Federer and Argentine gun, Leonardo Mayer here at Shanghai Rolex Masters. Roger wins with nail baiting finish. Mayer nearly outplayed him with his strong returns and heavy serves. Federer survived with 7-5,3-6,7-6.
It was second round match. Mayer would have won the first set with 6-3, but it was Roger's experience that stopped him and eventually he lost the first set with 5-7. But Mayer kept his temperament and won the second set with 6-3. But again in the decider, Mayer walked fast to win the match and almost has the match, but Roger saved it, a total of 5 match points were saved in the match. Three MPs were in tie break.
It was Federer, who kept his cool under control and just hanged in there against big serving Argentine. Roger did find the way to note victory today. He tried almost all variety of shots in passing Mayer. Federer will play Bautista Agut in 3rd round match.
Meanwhile Rafael Nadal lost to Feliciano Lopez in straight sets. Benneteau defeated Grigor in straight sets. Gilles Simon stunns Wawrinka. Ferrer survives against Klizan.
